ALLAH does

I have a “partner in crime” who operates on the same wavelength as I do, in the Fikr (effort)
of Deen. The name of the wavelength is “ALLAH Does.” Named thus, because we both
concur on the fact that no matter how much effort we put in for the cause of Islam, no
initiative will come to fruition without the Will of ALLAH.
My partner, ibn AbduLLAH, is currently engaged of a Fikr of inviting non-Muslims to Islam,
mostly through an informative book that he has written, which explains the basic beliefs and
practices of Muslims. In spite of his busy schedule as a professional and young family man,
he makes time, once a month to take new Reverts to Mosques in different areas for 3 days,
(well almost…nafsi nafsi). The intended purpose is that new Reverts get to experience the
brotherhood of Muslims in a functioning environment of ablution, prayer and worship, as
well as ThikruLLAH. They also benefit from group learning and teaching. This is based on the
Tabligh model, except that few of the orthodoxy among the “old workers” consider the
approach of ibn Abdullah to be that of a rebel without a clue. They are of the opinion that
focusing on Dawah to non-Muslims detracts from “the need of the hour”, which in their
opinion is to Revive Deen in the ranks of born Muslims.
Where I fit into the scheme of things, is that, with my passion for writing, I am currently
engaged in producing Islamic literature with subject matter which is geared (mostly)
towards Revert Muslims. The objective is to facilitate with ease and clarity, their acquisition
on sound, basic Islamic knowledge which can be disseminated within an Islamic atmosphere
of learning and teaching. With both our initiatives in mind, I’ve always had the desire to
establish a “headquarters” in the form of a Musullah that could serve as Revert center
which serves the community it is located in. ALLAH not only guided my heart, but also
opened a path, that led into an informal settlement, where I could be allocated a sight, and
by the Will of ALLAH, revive and establish the DEEN of ALLAH within the surrounding
community.
Every great plan meets success when it is established upon a solid foundation, and in my
book, water is the most “solid” foundation. At first glance some may consider me to be oxy-
moronic, a moron with a brain deprived of it’s full share of oxygen. Allow me the liberty of
qualifying my statement. To help me out with this one, I turn to the BaytuLLAH, in Makkah.
The bustling city of Makkah, which we all yearn to visit, is established upon the discovery of
water, over two thousand years ago. Zam Zam water to be more specific. The most solid of
concrete would just be a dry mix of cement, sand and stone, without water. I rest my case.
That being said, in order for things to forge ahead with our “project”, ibn Abdullah has to up
his game. What was required of him was to come up with three large (2500 liter) water
tanks. When I approached him with the “takaazaa” at his home, he calmly and somewhat
nonchalantly stepped into his bedroom and returned with a larger than life “sheepy bank”.
Piggy bank is not halaal, maybe not even SANHA approved. Anyway, he handed me the tin,
stating the words that shocked me. “Please return my tin”. Cheapskate!
When I got home and checked the contents of the tin, it by far superseded my expectations,
but left me with a new problem. In an instant, abundant became just not enough. Is that not
the story of our lives. The “problem” is indicative of the close relationship I have with my
good friend, ibn Abdullah. When it comes to Deen, we tend to push the limits. I was hoping
for a large (2500 liter) tank from my good friend, but what he gave me could almost suffice
for a “baby” 500 liter tank as well. Problem is, in a normal functional family, “big daddy” is
the provider, with mummy, the feeder, working her magic what he provides, and feeds the
family. Similarly, my game plan with the water supply is for large (2500 liter) storage tanks
to fill a 1000 liter feeder tank, mounted on a trailer, to fill smaller (500 liter) tanks that will
be strategically placed throughout the community. This will be done via a petrol/diesel
pump. In-sha-ALLAH. Anybody want to be part of this water drama, and be the “provider” of
a pump? We could do with a few baby tanks as well. Twins and triplets are most welcome.
its known fact that, like water, children bring joy to a community. In this case, like children,
water will bring joy to a community.
With his “daddy” tank and “baby” tank sorted, in order to counter the narrative that women
in Islam are not fully afforded their rights, it is 1000 % imperative that ibn Abdullah makes
provision for the “mummy” feeder tank, by any (halaal) means possible. By extension, it is
imperative for every Muslim to step up and serve ALLAH’S Deen, through any and every
(halaal) means within their capability. No good deed should be deemed to be insignificant.
“Whosoever does a good deed, it is for his ownself…” {Holy Qur’an / 45:15}
Narrated Abu Dharr (RadhiyALLAHU Anhu): The Prophet (SalaLLAHU Alayhi Wa Sallam) said,
“Do not disdain any good deed, even when meeting your Muslim brother with a cheerful
face.” [Muslim]
Narrated Abu Hurairah (RadhiyALLAHU Anhu): ALLAH’S Messenger (SalaLLAHU Alayhi Wa
Sallam) said, “None of you Muslim women must consider even a sheep’s trotter too
insignificant a gift to give to her neighbor.” [Al-Bukhaari and Muslim]
The story of the Ashaab-e-Khahaf (companions of the cave) is mentioned in the Holy Qur’an.
They were asleep in a cave for over three hundred years, and when they woke up, they
were asked for how long were they asleep? Their response was for a day, or maybe part of a
day. When it comes to serving ALLAH’S creation, when will you wake up from you slumber?
When it comes to this (possibly on going) water initiative, will you not give one tank, or part
a tank. A beautiful quote states:
When somebody comes to you for help, they may have turned to ALLAH first, and He gave
them your address. The big question is, ARE YOU HOME?
